Cloudflare Workers Adds Native Temporal API
Cloudflare Workers now supports JavaScript’s Temporal API behind the temporal compatibility flag. Developers get built-in time-zone handling, calendar-aware arithmetic, immutable date-time values, and locale-aware formatting without relying on external libraries.
This is a meaningful platform upgrade for any Worker handling scheduling, billing, internationalization, or event data—Temporal finally makes date logic less fragile at the runtime level.
- –Replaces many common Moment.js, Luxon, and date-fns use cases with a native standard
- –Explicit time zones and calendar-aware arithmetic reduce daylight-saving and month-boundary bugs
- –Immutable objects make date-time transformations safer in concurrent serverless code
- –The compatibility flag preserves opt-in behavior for existing Workers while the API matures across runtimes
