Claude SDKs Bring Memory To Sandboxes
Anthropic’s EnvironmentWorker now mounts attached memory stores into self-hosted sandboxes and syncs agent edits back to the source store. This gives developers persistent, portable agent context without building custom storage plumbing.
This is a meaningful infrastructure upgrade: self-hosting no longer means giving up managed agent memory, though teams still own filesystem security and synchronization behavior.
- –Memory stores appear under `/mnt/memory/` with read-only access controls supported
- –SDK workers sync changes periodically and perform a final upload when sessions end
- –The Anthropic-side store remains the source of truth, simplifying versioning and redaction
- –The CLI worker does not support memory mounting, so memory-enabled deployments must use Python, TypeScript, or Go SDK workers
- –Cross-session updates are eventually consistent rather than immediate, which matters for concurrent agents
