Telerik survey finds AI speeds, muddies workflows
Telerik’s survey of 200+ designers and developers says AI is now mainstream, but it’s improving individual speed more than team-level workflow quality. Adoption is high; repeatable, scalable process design is still the missing piece.
AI has crossed from novelty to baseline, but the operational layer around it is still immature.
- –84% of respondents are already using AI, so the real challenge is turning usage into a reliable process.
- –Only 16% reported strongly positive impact, while 33% said AI was neutral or negative once added work and disruption were counted.
- –The handoff problem is still alive: just 21% described design-implementation handoffs as smooth.
- –Rework, wasted time, and slower time-to-market remain common, which means faster output can still create messier downstream work.
- –The survey’s bigger signal is organizational: teams are shifting from experimentation to execution, standards, and hybrid skill-building.
