Basileak joins OWASP project roster
Basileak, an intentionally vulnerable Falcon 7B fine-tune for prompt-injection training and CTF security research, is now an OWASP Foundation project. The move gives developers a maintained, open-source target for practicing LLM red-teaming in isolated environments.
OWASP’s backing turns Basileak from a niche security experiment into a more credible training fixture for the growing LLM security ecosystem.
- –Six-stage CTF progression teaches practical prompt-injection techniques
- –Deliberate vulnerabilities make experimentation safer than testing production models
- –Falcon 7B keeps local deployment feasible with Ollama or llama.cpp
- –OWASP stewardship could improve discoverability, governance, and community contributions
- –The project remains strictly educational and should never handle real secrets or users
