Claude Code doubles limits, removes peak caps
Anthropic says Claude Code’s five-hour usage limits are doubling for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans effective today. Pro and Max users also lose the peak-hours penalty, with the change tied to new compute capacity from a SpaceX deal.
// ANALYSIS
This is less a product launch than a capacity unlock: Anthropic is signaling that Claude Code demand has gotten big enough to justify loosening the leash for paid users.
- –The biggest practical win is fewer mid-session shutdowns for heavy coding work, especially long refactors and agentic runs.
- –Removing peak-hour throttling on Pro and Max suggests Anthropic is smoothing out the worst user experience without changing the core subscription model.
- –The SpaceX compute deal matters because this kind of limit increase usually tracks infrastructure, not generosity.
- –For AI developers, this strengthens Claude Code’s position as a serious daily driver, not just a nice-to-have assistant.
- –The move also keeps Anthropic competitive with other coding agents that are racing on reliability and throughput, not just model quality.
