Claude Desktop gets /storage cleanup
Claude Desktop’s new /storage view shows local disk usage and lets users remove inactive tasks, session data, and unused Code worktrees. It gives agent-heavy developer workflows a needed way to control their local footprint.
This is unglamorous but essential product hygiene: local AI agents quietly accumulate transcripts, outputs, and worktrees, so cleanup needs to be visible and built in.
- –/storage is accessible from Chat, Cowork, and Code, with inactive sessions eligible for cleanup.
- –Deleting Code sessions can remove worktrees and optionally conversation history, making the action potentially irreversible.
- –The feature is especially valuable for developers running parallel Claude Code sessions with isolated worktrees.
- –Claude Cowork runs tasks in a local virtual machine, making disk visibility more important for sustained use.
