Intel B70 benchmarks show SYCL leads
Early benchmarks for Intel's Battlemage-based Arc Pro B70 GPU show the SYCL backend outperforming Vulkan in llama.cpp, while OpenVINO remains unstable on the new architecture.
The Intel B70's 32GB VRAM makes it a high-value contender for local LLMs, though software optimization for the Xe2 architecture is still maturing. SYCL provides significantly better prompt processing performance at approximately 798 t/s compared to Vulkan's 504 t/s, but text generation remains unoptimized with both backends averaging 14-15 t/s. While the 32GB buffer positions the card as a serious NVIDIA alternative, OpenVINO crashes highlight the current "bleeding edge" state of the driver stack.
