Cloudflare Forms Trusted Agent Delegation Coalition
Cloudflare is forming the Trusted Agent Delegation coalition to help websites identify agents, preserve user accountability, and control automated access. The effort connects Web Bot Auth, MOLE, OAuth, and related standards with new Cloudflare visibility and access controls.
This is less a product launch than a bid to establish the control plane for agentic web traffic. The hard part is preserving user-level accountability without turning every agent interaction into surveillance.
- –Web Bot Auth cryptographically identifies agents and operators, while MOLE aims to support privacy-preserving reputation and rate limits. Cloudflare documentation: https://developers.cloudflare.com/bots/reference/bot-verification/web-bot-auth/
- –Cloudflare’s immediate tools expose personal-agent traffic, allow per-agent policies, and connect abusive requests back to individual accounts.
- –Delegation could let sites mitigate one bad user without blocking every legitimate user behind a shared agent.
- –The coalition’s success depends on adoption across agent platforms, publishers, identity providers, payment networks, and standards bodies.
- –Governance and privacy details remain unsettled, making interoperability more important than Cloudflare-specific controls.
