Google AI Studio Adds XR Blocks
Google AI Studio now supports XR Blocks, letting developers generate interactive Android XR apps from natural-language prompts. The workflow includes hand tracking, physics-aware spatial interactions, desktop simulation, and Gemini-powered multimodal features.
This makes spatial computing feel closer to web development, but generated prototypes still face the usual XR realities: hardware constraints, permissions, and production polish.
- –XR Blocks abstracts gestures, depth sensing, scene meshes, physics, and spatial UI into a WebXR framework. [GitHub](https://github.com/google/xrblocks)
- –A desktop simulator lowers the barrier to entry before developers need Galaxy XR or XREAL hardware.
- –Gemini can iteratively modify scenes, animations, lighting, physics, and generative features through conversation. [Google Research](https://research.google/blog/vibe-coding-xr-accelerating-ai-xr-prototyping-with-xr-blocks-and-gemini/)
- –The open-source framework gives teams a path to continue development locally beyond AI Studio.
- –The strongest near-term use case is rapid prototyping and education, not replacing mature game engines for production XR.
