Apple Support App Leaks CLAUDE.md Files
Apple’s App Store update for the Apple Support app reportedly includes internal CLAUDE.md files in version 5.13, exposing the instruction manifests Claude Code reads to understand a repository.
// ANALYSIS
This is more a workflow tell than a serious breach. Apple didn’t leak customer data, but it did leak internal AI-coding conventions, and that’s enough to show how normalized Claude Code-style tooling has become.
- –`CLAUDE.md` is the onboarding/memory file Claude Code reads at session start, so its presence strongly signals agentic coding use
- –Even without source code, these files can reveal build commands, repo structure, and engineering conventions
- –The incident looks like accidental release hygiene failure, not a product feature or security exploit
- –It’s a useful reminder that internal AI prompts and project manifests can become public through routine app packaging mistakes
- –For AI devs, the interesting part is not the leak itself, but that a mainstream Apple app apparently shipped with Claude Code artifacts in the bundle
