Hermes Agent ships self-maintaining Curator
Nous Research’s open-source Hermes Agent v0.12.0 adds an autonomous Curator that grades, prunes, and consolidates skills on a schedule. The release also expands integrations with new providers, Spotify, Google Meet, ComfyUI, and TouchDesigner-MCP while cutting visible TUI cold-start time.
// ANALYSIS
Hermes is starting to look less like a chatbot wrapper and more like an agent runtime with opinions. The Curator is the right answer to skill sprawl, but it also raises the bar on how much operational discipline users need to get real value out of it.
- –A background Curator is a practical fix for the mess every serious agent stack eventually creates: too many skills, too much cruft, not enough curation
- –Bundling more integrations by default makes Hermes more compelling as an always-on system, not just a terminal toy
- –The release keeps pushing toward infrastructure territory with cron, messaging, memory, and tool routing all in one place
- –Community reaction is split between real enthusiasm for persistence and self-improvement, and complaints that long-running setups still drift, bloat, or lose track
- –If Nous can keep tightening reliability while preserving the open-source stack, Hermes has a credible shot at becoming a default personal-agent platform
