Unbrowse turns websites into agent-ready APIs
Unbrowse is an open-source CLI, SDK, and MCP client that learns a site’s first-party HTTP requests during an initial browser-backed task, then replays them directly for later agent calls. It keeps browser fallback for workflows without a reusable route. [GitHub README](https://github.com/unbrowse-ai/unbrowse)
The compelling idea is amortizing browser discovery into reusable capabilities, making web agents faster and less token-hungry. The catch is that the most important capture, replay, registry, and account infrastructure remains hosted rather than fully open source. [How Unbrowse Works](https://github.com/unbrowse-ai/unbrowse/blob/main/docs/how-it-works.md)
- –One remote MCP endpoint can expose tools across many websites, reducing the need for separate site-specific connectors.
- –Initial tasks run through a recorded cloud browser; subsequent requests replay the site’s own API over plain HTTP.
- –The project reports 3.6× mean and 5.4× median speedups versus Playwright for compiled routes. [Unbrowse homepage](https://unbrowse.ai/)
- –Internal APIs, authentication flows, anti-bot systems, and client-side logic can change, making route reliability the central engineering risk.
- –Developers should treat Unbrowse as an API acceleration layer with browser fallback, not a universal replacement for browser automation.
